Why Stephen “tWitch” Boss’s Suicide Scares Us and the Price of Suppressing Your Inner Demons
Many of us are now wondering about our brothers, parents, friends, cousins and even ourselves and asking ourselves, “Who’s next? Am I next?”
Once more, a celebrity suicide has put a spotlight on mental illness and the dangers of it. Americans see stories of celebrities who commit suicide, such as, Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain and more recently, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, plus, so many others and we all wonder why someone who appeared to be “so happy” or appeared to “have it all” could do such a thing? How could someone kill themselves and leave behind their kids or hurt their spouses, family members and friends?
Didn’t the deceased person know they are loved?
Stephen “tWitch” Boss who was born in my birth place of Montgomery, AL and we are both 40 years old has just been added to the list of celebrities who killed himself. Boss even left a note, alluding to “past challenges” he struggled with that caused him to lose the battle to mental illness.
I didn’t know tWitch personally. I never watched him on Ellen Degeneres because I don’t watch talk shows. I don’t know why tWitch committed suicide, specifically. I only know the details that everyone else knows from the news outlets…
